Here are the 4th of July-related events listed on VisitAmes.com:

– July 2: Ames Municipal Band Concert

Come on out to the Durham Bandshell to enjoy some patriotic music performed by the Ames Municipal Band. The music goes from 8 to 9 p.m., and don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs and blankets.

– July 2: Ames Choral Society Independence Day Concert

Preceding the Ames Municipal Band, the Ames Choral Society will perform their annual Independence Day Concert at the Durham Bandshell at Bandshell Park. “America! America!” will be performed at 7 p.m. then the pre-concert show will start at 7:15.

– July 3: Independence Day fireworks

The 2015 Ames Fireworks will be presented July 3 by the Young Professionals of Ames in partnership with the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau, the City of Ames and Iowa State University. The fireworks will start at dusk, launching from parking lot G7 by Jack Trice stadium. 

– July 4: Friendship Arks Annual 5k on the 4th

The 5k walk/run will start at 8:00 a.m. at Ada Hayden Heritage Park, and proceeds will benefit Friendship Ark Homes. Registration is now open, and there will be a free kids run right before the official race.  

– July 4: Mayor’s Fourth of July Community Pancake Breakfast

The breakfast will be held from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., before the start of the Fourth of July parade. Join members of the Ames City Council and get served some free pancakes, sausage and coffee from the City Hall front entrance.

– July 4: Bookmobile in 4th of July Parade

Meet in front of the Ames Public Library between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. to decorate your bicycle or stroller then walk the parade route with the Ames Public Library Bookmobile and Smyles.

– July 4: 4th of July Parade

The 4th of July Parade and Festival will be held in the Main Street Cultural District starting at 11:00 a.m.

– July 4: Old-Fashioned Independence Day Celebration

At noon, celebrate the Farmhouse Museum, the 155-year-old building on the ISU campus, and the agricultural heritage of Iowa State. The Onion Creek Cloggers and Band will perform from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. At 2:00 p.m., the 1976 time capsule will be opened, along with Victorian games. The Gilbert Tractor Club will also be showing historic tractors and balers.
