Re-vamp your Ramen

Ramen is a stereotypical college “staple,” so it’s important to know how to prepare it best. Sure, you can make the traditional, package-directed Ramen, but why not make it that much sweeter? By adding some simple ingredients you can make your Ramen oh so much better.

First thing’s first, learn to prepare Ramen the “right” way:

1. put the instant noodles and seasonings into your own bowl

2. in a separate bowl, microwave the designated amount of water for 3 or 4 minutes

3. combine the noodles and seasoning with the water, stirring it with a fork

4. cover the bowl for a couple minutes, letting the noddles and seasoning work their magic

Next, add some zest:

1. peanut butter — Adding some smooth peanut butter to your cooked Ramen makes for a makeshift Pad Thai. The peanut butter thickens the broth, plus it gives you some protein.

2. frozen veggies — This is a simple one: just take the veggies from your freezer and pop them in the hot water with your noodles and seasoning. Your Ramen will be full of flavor and nutrients.

3. cheese — Add some sliced cheese to your Ramen to thicken the broth, but make sure you don’t add it too early. Wait until the last 30-some seconds of cooking to add the processed cheese to your water.

4. hot sauce — If you’re a fan of some spice, add some hot sauce to your noodles.

5. eggs — Eggs are a versatile ingredient to add to Ramen, or any other noodle dish for that matter. Hard boil, scramble or fry them then add it to the mixture.
