New student contracts

The Department of Residence begins accepting new student housing contracts on July 1 of the prior year (i.e., July 1, 2014 for 2015-16). Students can contract for on-campus housing as soon as they accept their admission.

Students can submit a housing contract using AccessPlus. Assignment priority is determined using the date a student completes the contract. For on-line contracts, this is when the student finalizes the contract using AccessPlus. For paper contracts, this is when the contract is received by the Department of Residence.

Assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis. The Department of Residence does not guarantee students will receive the room they want, but the earlier students submits their contracts, the better.

Learning community – Learning community preferences are considered first. Most learning communities have eligibility requirements students must meet to be considered.

Roommate requests – Roommate requests are considered second. The request must be mutual and the earliest contract date determines priority for the group.

Room preferences – Room preferences are considered third. Students are encouraged to list 12 preferences. Because some of the popular options like Eaton, Friley, Maple and Martin Halls fill early, students should list at least one option outside of the most popular choices.

Students are informed about their assignment beginning the week of June 1 for the fall semester. Students are sent a postcard, which gives instruction on how to find the assignment, roommate and move-in details on Access Plus. Some students may not receive a postcard until late July. For the spring semester, students will begin being informed the week of Dec. 15.
