Iowa State and Oklahoma State, now and then

Max Dible

No. 14 Iowa State defeated Oklahoma State at Hilton by two points to open the conference season.

The Cowboys then lost three of their next five, falling to 3-4 in the conference.

No. 22 Oklahoma State recently played itself back into the top 25 on the strength of a 4-1 streak during five consecutive games against ranked opponents.

The headlining win of one of the most impressive stretches by any team in the Big 12 all season was a home victory against No. 8 Kansas.

The Cowboys lost their most recent contest by 15 points in a less-than-impressive effort at Texas Christian.

However, Oklahoma State is 5-1 in Stillwater, Okla. in conference play, losing only to in-state rival Oklahoma by eight points on Jan. 31.

Oklahoma State is led by versatile senior Le’Bryan Nash and junior Phil Forte III, who average 17.2 and 16.6 points per contest, respectively. The two combined for 40 total points when the Cyclones met the Cowboys in Ames.
