Iowa State remained unbeaten following losses this season, as the Cyclones rebounded from a double-digit defeat at Oklahoma to take care of business at Hilton against West Virginia on Feb. 14.

Iowa State (18-6, 8-4 Big 12) outdueled West Virginia (19-6, 7-5 Big 12) 79-59, beating the Mountaineers for the second time this season and claiming sole possession of third place in the Big 12 standings.

Point guard Monté Morris stole the show, scoring 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting and dishing out five dimes. Morris continued his stellar play against the vaunted WVU press, committing only one turnover and pushing his career marks to 29 assists and a mere 2 turnovers in four career matchups versus the Mountaineers.

Iowa State also got out on the break effectively, aided in part by a WVU full-court press, which when broken, contributed to easy opportunities for ISU buckets. The Cyclones outscored the Mountaineers 23-8 on the fast break, as well as 32-20 in the paint.

The ISU bench also contributed heavily, adding 32 points. The reserves were led by redshirt junior Abdel Nader, who tallied 16 points and seven rebounds.

The first half was ugly on both ends, as 18 turnovers were committed in total, seven by the Cyclones. Despite a shooting percentage that topped out at well above 50, Iowa State carried a mere 36-32 lead into the second half.

Early in half number two, Morris took over, leading a hectic ISU fast break and finding teammates for easy buckets. The highlight of the night was a half-court alley-oop from Morris to Nader that took approximately two seconds to complete after the inbounds pass.

Iowa State grabbed a double-digit lead midway through the second and kept the lead in that range or higher for the rest of the game.

Next up for Iowa State is a battle in Stillwater, Okla. versus Oklahoma State on Feb. 18.
