Last matchup

The last time these two teams met up a few short weeks ago, the Cyclones walked off the floor at Hilton Coliseum with an upset victory against then-No. 3 Texas. The Cyclones were down 18 points in the first half, but stormed all the way back to earn a two-point victory.

Injury issues

Both Iowa State and Texas have been bit by the injury bug in the their previous game. Nikki Moody sprained her ankle in the Cyclones’ previous game against TCU and is day-to-day at this point in time, though ISU coach Bill Fennelly expects her to play.

Texas has a bigger problem, as their leading scorer and rebounder Nneka Enemkpali is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL.

Low-post matchup

The Cyclones will face a significant size advantage against the Longhorns. The Cyclone starting lineup features just one player over 6 feet tall. On the other hand, the Longhorns have five players, not counting Enemkpali, who are over six feet tall, including the 6-foot-7-inch Imani McGee-Stafford.

On the road

This time, the Cyclones will face the Longhorns on the road, far away from the comforts of Hilton Coliseum. The now-No. 8 Longhorns will be a tough task to handle on their home court. The Cyclones will try to pull off the season sweep against Texas at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 25 in Austin, Texas.
