The Lowdown

After last Thursday’s loss to instate rival Iowa, the Iowa State women’s team was looking to get back on track. And while it took them a while to find the right combination, the Cyclones defeated Arkansas Pine-Bluff (2-6, 0-0 SWAC) 82-56 on Dec. 14.

The Cyclones (6-2, 0-0 Big 12) came out of the gate slow, shooting only eight percent from the field to open the game. Slowly, Iowa State was able to fight their way back from a 10-4 deficit, taking the lead 35-27 at halftime.

Iowa State came out strong to start the second half, with back-to-back three-pointers coming from senior guard Brynn Williamson. The Cyclones were able to keep the Golden Lions at bay the rest of the game, giving them the win.

Seanna Johnson led the Cyclones in scoring with 18. Nicole “Kidd” Blaskowsky, who started in place of an injured Jadda Buckley, followed with 17 points. Blaskowsky also went 5-for-8 from the 3-point line, with three of them coming in the first half.
