Boston, Rodriquez take second at Harold Nichols Open

With many of the headliners for ISU wrestling sitting out this weekend, some less heralded wrestlers took center stage at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open.

Most of the projected starters for the Cyclones took the day off, but a host of wrestlers fighting for a starting spot or to secure a second-string spot, as well unattached wrestlers, made their impacts felt in place of the starters.

The Cyclones, including ISU athletes who were wrestling unattached, had six wrestlers make it to the semifinal round.

Nathan Boston at 125, Dante Rodriguez at 141, Renaldo Rodriquez-Spencer at 149, Daniel Woiwor at 157, Marcus Harrington at 197, and Tyler Swope at 285.

Of the six wrestlers who advanced to the semifinals, only Boston and Rodriguez would be able to pull out wins and head to the finals in their respective brackets.

In the finals, both Boston and Rodriquez were forced to settle for second place. Boston fell 5-1 and Rodriquez lost 8-7.
