Iowa State was never able to get going as the Iowa Hawkeyes went on to win in a dominating 28-8 victory in the Cy-Hawk wrestling dual.

Iowa State started off slow as each of its first five wrestlers suffered losses. Gabe Moreno nearly broke the streak, but ultimately fell 7-6 in his match against Brandon Sorenson.

At the intermission Iowa led 15-0. After the intermission, Iowa State was finally able to get on the board as No. 3 Michael Moreno took a 6-3 victory over No. 5 Nick Moore.

The Cyclones were unable to build momentum from that point as both Tanner Weatherman and Lelund Weatherspoon took losses at 174 and 184, respectively.

Kyven Gadson was another bright spot for the Cyclones as he recorded a third period pin. Gadson egged on the boos from the Hawkeye faithful and one team point was deducted from the ISU total for taunting.

The final match of the evening saw No. 3 Bobby Telford defeat Quean Smith by pin to seal the win for the Hawkeyes.
