Cyclone Hockey ended its five-game losing skid in American College Hockey Association play with a 5-2 win against the Colorado State Rams on Nov. 21 at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena.

Zack Johnson opened the scoring early with a power-play goal just over two minutes into the period, which ended his five-game scoreless streak. The No. 14 ranked Cyclones (11-8-3) extended their lead less than two minutes later, but this time short-handed as Nate Percy wrapped the puck around the goalie’s pads to put his team up by two.

But the No. 19 ranked Rams (9-7-0) were not going down without a fight, scoring two goals in under three minutes to pull within one at intermission.

The Cyclones came right back in the second period after Antti Helanto buried a wrist shot in front of the net. The score remained 4-2 into intermission.

The Cyclone’s added to their total in the third period after J.P. Kascsak and Alex Stephens turned a 2-on-1 opportunity into a goal.

Cyclone Hockey will hit the ice again for the chance to sweep at 8 p.m. on Nov. 22 at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena.
