The Lowdown:

The RPI No. 23 ISU volleyball team (12-9, 4-6 Big 12) notched its best win of the season in terms of opponent RPI ranking by sweeping No. 15 Kansas State (20-4, 7-3 Big 12), 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.

In front of a crowd of 1,932 at Hilton Coliseum, the Cyclones recorded their first sweep in Big 12 play this season and handed the Wildcats their first road loss of the season.

X-Factors:

Monique Harris and Victoria Hurtt

With an increased role in Iowa State’s recent implementation of a six-two offensive scheme, freshman setter Monique Harris recorded a double-double in assists and digs.

Senior outside hitter Victoria Hurtt set the tone for Iowa State early on, recording eight kills in the first set to finish with 12 on the night, including the match-clinching point in the third set.

By the Numbers:

12: Digs for Caitlin Nolan

Although a sweep limited her dig chances, Nolan’s 12 digs is her third-lowest total on the season. In her last three matches, Nolan averaged 33.3 digs per match, including tying the Big 12 record with 43 against Kansas on Oct. 22.

2.33: The average margin of victory per set in a match that featured three tightly-contested sets.

23: Harris recorded 23 digs to go along with 10 assists for a double-double. Her 23 digs are a career-high, besting her previous high of eight.
