Through two rounds at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, the No. 55 ISU women’s golf team sits in a tie for sixth place out of 15 teams in what is a top-heavy field assembled in Wilmette, Ill.

The elite rose to the top on day one as three of the four top-10 teams — No. 7 Southern California, No. 5 Northwestern and No. 10 Oklahoma State — comprise the top three spots on the leaderboard.

With a 19-over-par total of 595, the Cyclones trail the University of Southern California Trojans by 14 shots heading into the final round and are within single digits of the four teams ahead of them.

In the first 36 holes, freshman Nattapan Siritrai was Iowa State’s leader. She posted consecutive rounds of par 72. Siritrai is in a tie for sixth place out of 81 golfers and is seven shots behind leader Emily Penttila of Tulane.

Siritrai was the lone Cyclone to shoot a round of par or better and joined teammate Chonlada Chayanun as the two ISU golfers to avoid a double-bogie or worse thus far.

The third and final round will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 7 at the Westmoreland Country Club.
