Haley Albert tries to control the ball during the soccer game against Texas on Oct. 3. The team improved from its 2-0 loss to Baylor from earlier in the week, but fell to Texas 1-0 during a cold and windy night at the Cyclone Sports Complex.

The Cyclones (6-8, 0-4 Big 12) had a pair of home games against Big 12 foes Texas and Oklahoma this weekend.

If you weren’t able to make it out to the Cyclone Sports Complex to watch them play, here a a few quick points to summarize the weekend:

Iowa State lost both home games this weekend with identical 1-0 scores.

Iowa State has now lost five straight games, including four straight loses in conference play.

The Cyclones have been unable to score a single goal in their last four games.

Four of the last five losses have been by a single goal deficit.

Iowa State will have the next 12 days off before another home match against conference opponent West Virginia.

After dropping to 0-4 in conference play, ISU coach Tony Minatta said the team will use the time off to focus on getting back to fundamentals and getting healthy.

While the Cyclones are 0-4 in conference, Minatta and his team are still hopeful about their chances of getting into the Big 12 conference tournament.

“There is so much parity in the league right now,” Minatta said. “The separation between the top teams and the bottom teams is a goal … We are just going to take it one game at a time and see if we can get into the tournament, because if you get into the tournament, you’ve got a chance.”
