ISU soccer’s conference outlook

Chris Wolff

The Cyclones struggled offensively to kick off the conference schedule as they were unable to find the back of the net in losses against Oklahoma State and Baylor.

While starting the conference schedule off 0-2 is not ideal for the Cyclones, the team is not hitting the panic button quite yet.

Here are a few quick kicks as the Cyclones look to secure a spot in the Big 12 tournament:

1. ISU coach Tony Minatta said winning four of the final six games, putting the Cyclone’s conference record at 4-4, would be good enough for the team to qualify for the Big 12 conference tournament.

2. Four of the remaining six games will be played at home for the Cyclones.

3. The Cyclone’s next three games will all be played at home, providing a chance to get ahead in the conference standings.

4. The Cyclones made it to the Big 12 conference tournament for the first time since 2007 last season.

The Cyclones will look to grab their first conference win in their home conference opener, which will be played on Oct. 3 against the Texas Longhorns.
