ISU football lands top in-state prospect for 2015

It’s never too early to look towards the future. 

ISU coach Paul Rhoads received a verbal commitment from Cedar Rapids Prairie offensive linemen Bryce Meeker, a three-star recruit and No. 1 prosepct in Iowa according to Rivals.com. Meeker commited yesterday after attending a football camp hosted by Iowa State. 

Meeker, a second team all-state selection in 2013, had offers from five other schools, including Illinois State, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, Western Illinois and North Dakota State.

If the prospect rankings hold true, Meeker will be the third top in-state prospect to join Iowa State in the last three years. Wide receiver Allen Lazard, who will be a freshman this upcoming season, was the No. 1 recruit in the class of 2014. Before Lazard, offensive linemen Jake Campos as the top recruit in 2013.

Meeker will graduate high school in the spring of 2015 before joining Iowa State.
