ISU swimming and diving falls to in-state rival

The ISU swimming and diving team lost 165-135 in front of 800 fans at Beyer pool Friday night. It was the Cyclones (3-2-1, 0-1 Big 12) third loss in their past seven meetings against the Hawks (5-2, 2-2 Big 10) at home.

ISU senior diver Jessica Henderson evened up the match 75-75 eight events into the meet after placing third for the Cyclones in the 1-meter platform

Iowa State later grabbed a 104-103 advantage after senior Imelda Wistey broke the school record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:13.79, but Iowa would go on to snatch a first-place finishes in three of the final four swim meets.

It was a record-breaking night for both teams as the Cyclones broke five records, while the Hawkeyes broke two.

The ISU divers will travel to Georgia for an invitational and winter training beginning on New Years and ending a week later. The swimmers, on the other hand, will travel to Fort Lauderdale Florida for their winter training beginning on January 4 and ending on the 11th.

The next meet featuring both the swimmers and divers will take place on January 17 when they host Illinois.
