The Government of Student Body and Inter Residence Hall Association funded self-service bike station has been installed and ready for students to use.

The station, located on the west side of the Memorial Union, is stainless steel and includes a mount that lifts bikes up, eight tools to make bicycle repairs and a tire pump. These are all secured to the station to prevent theft.

Funding for the station was approved last fall, however the order was lost by the company it was placed with which caused a delay in getting the station installed.

The repair stand with tools costs roughly $1,000, and the pump is about $750.

According to Inside Iowa State, an additional stand-alone pump will be installed near Parks Library later this summer.

“All students are going to get a lot of use out of it,” GSB President Spencer Hughes said. “I hope all students take advantage of the convenience of having a bike pump right on campus.”
