The Cyclone Hockey team was hoping to come back from its loss against Oklahoma in the second game of the military weekend series on Saturday and evade the two-game sweep.

The Sooners started the game fast, scoring their first goal of the game 38 seconds into the first period. Iowa State could not produce any offense in the first and finished the period down 1-0.

The second period was a defensive battle, with neither team able to put the puck past the goalies until 12:09 in the period, when Oklahoma tallied its second goal of the game.

Iowa State, again, could not muster up any offense and closed out the second period down 2-0.

The Cyclones came out firing in the third period and senior forward David Kurbatsky knocked in the first goal of the game for Iowa State 18 seconds into the third.

Oklahoma responded with a goal of its own at 11:32 in the period, putting the Sooners up 3-1.

Oklahoma held off the Cyclones for the remainder of the game, winning 3-1 and completing the series sweep.

ISU goalie Scott Ismond stopped 34 of 37 shots, while Oklahoma goalie Colin Fernandes saved 17 of 18 shots on the night.
