GSB gears up for regular allocations meeting

The Government of the Student Body will have its regular allocations meeting Wednesday in which it allocates student fee dollars to student organizations and services for the fiscal year 2013.

Seventy-five percent of the student fees GSB receives will be allocated to 150 student organizations and services that have already submitted their budget requests for next year.

As this is usually the longest meeting of the year with senators having three options when an organization’s budget is presented, they can pass the budget as written, fail the budget (which zero-funds the group and makes them ineligible for any GSB funds for next year) or refer the organization back to the Finance Committee with instructions to amend the budget in a certain way.

Following the allocation period, GSB will vote on four bills: “Funding for Sigma Lambda Beta,” “Account Allocations for Fiscal Year 2013,” “Funding for Catalyst” and “Line Item Transfer for Financial Counseling Clinic.”
