Iowa State spent a total of $1,286,477 in its football team’s trip to the 2011 Pinstripe Bowl, according to records obtained by the Daily through FOIA requests.

Of the 6,196 tickets committed by the conference for the school in the Cyclones’ 27-13 loss to Rutgers, 1,402 of them went unsold and were absorbed by the Big 12 for the price of $159,480. That figure is approximately $35,000 more than the 2,275 absorbed tickets from the 2009 Insight Bowl.

Transportation for the team and coaching staff cost $244,015, which is more than half of the $427,738 spent by the school for travel.

Meals and lodging comprised the other large portion of expenditures with $601,947, with $425,104 of that figure spent on the team and its staff.
