The ISU wrestling team won its first dual meet of the season on Tuesday night when it defeated Arizona State 25-14 in Tempe, Ariz.

The Cyclones (1-8, 0-3 Big 12) earned bonus points from four of their six victories on the night — the first time multiple wrestlers had done so since the team’s loss to Boston on Nov. 6.

Redshirt freshman Ryak Finch notched an 11-3 major decision against Dalton Miller at the 125-pound match, his first victory since Nov. 25.

Luke Goettl continued his impressive performance from a sixth-place finish at the Midlands Championships, pinning Nathan Hoffer in 4:57 at the 141-pound match.

Andrew Sorenson (165) and Mikey England (174) were the other two wrestlers to score bonus points in the dual, winning by technical fall and major decision.

Michael Moreno earned his first official collegiate victory, having his hand raised after a 6-5 decision against Victor DeJesus.

The Cyclones return home on Sunday for a Big 12 dual against Missouri, to whom they lost 31-10 on Dec. 18.
