Bloggers can let more of their own opinions shine through in their writing, and are also more free to explore topics with national appeal. Bloggers will choose a focus area, but aren’t as dedicated to a “beat” because their posts aren’t dependent on local sources. Like reporters, however, their work is expected to be accurate, well-researched (including links to other sources) and grammatically clean.

Bloggers are encouraged to develop their own personality and voice that can come through in their writing, including expressing opinions, but also accept that their work will be supervised by an editor.

Roles/Responsibilities:

• Develop a passion – music, movies, the arts, whatever — and keep current on it.
• Keep posts short, snappy and to the point. Update on a regular basis.
