The Ames City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to deny the LANE4 property development group’s request to extend the terms of its Campustown redevelopment agreement. Council member Matthew Goodman abstained from voting, citing a conflict of interest. 

Seeking more time to attract tenants for planned buildings, developers requested a 60-day extension of the present agreement’s terms.

City council members showed skepticism about the likelihood of their project’s success

“I don’t have a lot of faith in the project,” said council member Jami Larson. “I had high hopes, but I haven’t seen much in the past six months. I think it’s time for other ideas.”
