From cupcakes to cordon bleu, muffins to meatballs, fondue to fillet mignon, ISU Catering is a one-stop-shop for preparing any gathering or event.

With graduation just a few VEISHEA parties and five final exams away, it’s time to start thinking about party plans in celebration of the big day.

How much food should I buy? How will I keep the meat hot? More importantly, how will I keep the beer cold? All these questions and more can be answered with the help of the catering and culinary professionals at Iowa State.

“It takes a lot of time, but we can take those worries off your back,” said Jeffrey Miller, director at ISU Catering. Along with over 10 other full-time staff members and approximately 50 student employees, Miller and his team work hard to ensure all of their clients’ needs are met efficiently.

If you’re a graduating senior or are planning an upcoming event, the first thing to keep in mind is time.

“It’s harder to accommodate only days in advance,” Miller said.

For larger parties, it’s good to reserve a space four to six months prior and notify a caterer two to three months in advance. This allows you to plan a menu, whether it is standard or specialty, that fits your needs and budget.

As for location, ISU Catering offers options for pickup, delivery, and staffed catering services. They also handle the catering needs at The Memorial Union, Knapp-Storms Dining Complex, Iowa State Center and Alumni Center. For a more personal setting, the catering department can also accommodate gatherings at a private residence. “We really can do just about anything, anywhere,” said Miller.

Convenience aside, ISU Dining caters to any customer and any budget. From parties of 2 to 10,000, there are a host of options to satisfy all clients’ needs.

If you’re not looking for a high-end, five-course meal, there is currently a trend in specialty graduation cakes. Both informal and fun, a unique cake can be the perfect dessert or snack for any get-together.

“As far as food goes, I think you should do what makes you feel good. Go with what you love,” Miller said.

So quit stressing about cocktail weenies or finding coolers for your afternoon graduation and let the food professionals at ISU Catering help you with the all your party needs.

“With a bit of planning, and a little forethought, you can have a great celebration,” Miller said.
