GSB meeting focuses on transition to new leadership

It’s a busy time of year for most ISU students, even members of GSB.

With just over two weeks left in the spring semester, the Government of the Student Body will turn its focus from funding and elections to simply becoming comfortable with its new leadership and membership.

GSB President Daniel Fischer, senior in agricultural business, said the main focus for GSB is educating both the Senate and Cabinet so they can get a head start on goals and action plans.

Fischer said Wednesday’s Senate meeting will begin with the State of the Student Body speech where he will speak about some of his and Vice President Maggie Luttrell’s action plans.

On Wednesday, the Senate will appoint committee positions.

Also on the agenda are two finance bills associated with a $120,000 investment and a funding request for a new Habitat for Humanity banner which will cost $117.60.

A lump sum of $120,000 was allotted to the GSB vehicle administration account but is now being transferred to the capital projects account and then immediately transferred again into the investment account. There, it will earn interest and accumulate money for next fall’s budget.

This summer, GSB will not have Senate meetings, but members will keep in touch to work toward creating action plans and making sure the planned projects are pursued.
