The ISU swimming and diving team defeated Northern Iowa, 180-57, on Saturday in Cedar Falls.

The Cyclones saw individual first-place victories from six swimmers: Jenny Vondenkamp (1,000-meter free stroke), Megan Thompson (500 free), Anjelica Nixt (100 breaststroke), Kalyn Amundson (100 free), Lindsey Behrens (100 fly and 50 free) and Lindsay Wegner (200 individual medley and 100 back stroke). Behrens and Wegner each won two races apiece and led the team over the weekend.

The divers were also quite successful, seeing success as Tien Tran placed first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Teammate Kali Fryklund was close behind, placing second – behind Tran – in the same events.

The victory brought the Cyclones to 2-1 and marked their 15th consecutive victory over Northern Iowa.

Iowa State will return to more intrastate competition as it hosts the Iowa Hawkeyes on Friday in Ames as part of the Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk series.
