The ISU men’s cross country team qualified for the NCAA Championships after finishing third in the Midwest Regional in Peoria, Ill., on Saturday.

Kiel Uhl led the way for Iowa State, finishing third in the region. Four other Cyclone runners also placed in the top 35. Kevin Born was 18th, Guor Majak 28th, Jayden Russ 29th and Hillary Bor 32nd.

“Obviously, this is really exciting,” said coach Corey Ihmels in a press release. “All summer and fall, our men’s team’s goal was to make it to the NCAA meet and then do something once we are there.”

Lisa Koll and Grace Kemmey also earned trips to nationals on the women’s side. Koll placed fourth in the Midwest Regional with Kemmey finishing seventh. The ISU women were seventh overall.

The NCAA Championships will take place at 11 a.m. on Nov. 19 in Tere Haute, Ind. Both the men’s and women’s championships will be televised live on CSTV.
