A double-overtime loss ended the season for the ISU women’s soccer team as Missouri freshman Crystal Wagner scored with just more than four minutes left to spoil the Cyclones’ Friday night.

Wagner’s last-minute goal was the first of her career, breaking a 1-1 tie and giving the Tigers (10-9, 2-8 Big 12) the 2-1 victory.

Iowa State left the soccer complex with a sixth straight loss, finishing the season at 6-14 with 2-8 in the Big 12. The loss gave the Cyclones its worst conference record since the first year of the program in 1995, when the team went 0-9.

This is the first season since 2003 the team failed to qualify for the Big 12 Tournament.

After a foul, Missouri’s Lindsay McCoy found Wagner with a free kick on the left side of the box. Wagner directed the ball in with a diving header with 4:12 remaining.

Iowa State had several opportunities to score in the extra periods, including two shots by freshman Elise Reid that missed their mark.

Missouri scored 23 minutes into the game to take the early lead. Junior Erin Witte tied the game in the 57th minute, kicking in a blocked shot by Tiger goalkeeper Mallory Forst.

The Tigers outshot the Cyclones, 31-17. Goalkeeper Ann Gleason had a career best 10 saves, ending her freshman campaign with 119 saves, the second most in a season by a Cyclone.
