Shawn Faurote, UDA senator, addressed concerns about accessibility of the senate to students if the bill passed.

Luken said Iowa code requires 48-hour notice before a change in meeting time.

“Students do and should know [when the meetings are] if they in fact want to be here,” he said.

A bill approving a transfer of $200,000 from the GSB Transit Trust Fund to CyRide’s Operating Fund also passed with a 29-0 vote.

A new bill allowing for the transfer of $1,100 into the ISU Entrepreneurs Club Budget was approved 28-0-1.

Insurance has expanded to include Vision One Discount along with a Delta Dental preventive plan, Kellog said.

“It’s nice to have insurance with the mounting debt [of tuition] students have,” Luken said.

Kellog said the average cost of insurance through Iowa State is $62 per month, or a total of $740 from August to August.

Katie Greiman, senior in communication studies, spoke about the upcoming Leadership London program.

The program “Exploring leadership within cultural context” will run May 14 to 29, she said.

“[Students] learn so much history because [England] goes back further than the United States.” she said.

Jamila Akil was seated as a College of Liberal Arts and Sciences senator.

Paul Heil, Josh Deupree, Will Rock, and Josh Hansen were seated as off-campus senators.

Joeleen Pietz of the ISU card office was unable to attend the meeting due to illness.
