Softball splits two with No. 22 Bears

The ISU softball team split two games with conference foe Baylor over the weekend, 2-0 and 4-6, to bring its record to 5-6 in the Big 12 Conference and 15-16 overall.

A complete game shutout from Erica Martinez and a solo home run from Katie Ruby proved to be the difference on Saturday as the Cyclones won 2-0. The win snapped Iowa State’s five-game conference losing streak.

No. 22 Baylor used a five-run sixth inning Sunday to run past the Cyclones 6-4 and in the process set a school record for conference wins.

With the win, the Bears’ record improved to 8-5 in the Big 12 and 41-13 overall.
