The Cyclone volleyball team is once again in action tonight as they travel to Boulder, Colo. to face the Buffaloes.

Colorado leads the all-time series with Iowa State 28-7 and have won nine straight in the series. The Buffaloes come into tonight’s match with an overall record of 11-10 and are 7-7 in Big 12 action. The Buffaloes swept No. 21 Texas A&M, but were swept by top-ranked Nebraska.

The Cyclones head into tonight’s game owning a 2-22 overall record and are 0-15 in the Big 12 conference. Earlier in the season, the Cyclones lost their first match-up against Colorado 3-0.

This week, Colorado’s Elizabeth Gower recorded her third triple-double of the season in the Buffaloes win over Texas A&M. Her performance earned the University of Colorado’s Athlete-of-the-Week award.

Gower, a sophomore, posted an impressive set of statistics including 10 kills, 59 assists and 10 digs in the upset. At this stage in her career, her three triple-doubles in two seasons betters that of two-time All American setter, Kelly Campbell.

The Buffaloes are led offensively by Sonja Nielson and Megan Barkman. Both players have surpassed the 200 kill mark this season. Neilson leads the team with 291 and Barkman follows closely behind with 213.

The Cyclones seem to be putting together a strong team effort. Lindsey Chapman has started the last six matches and has taken advantage of her opportunity for playing time. Chapman comes off of a strong showing against Oklahoma last Saturday. She notched a season high of 32 assists and now owns 191 on the season.

Nanette Allen is also a strong contributor, offensively. Allen gathered 15 kills against Oklahoma which became the sixth time the junior has led Iowa State in kills. In Allen’s career, she has tallied 427 kills and stands at 157 kills for the season. Allen has also contributed defensively with 384 career digs.

Sarah Rollman has also made her mark in her second season of play. Rollman has tallied 365 kills and 371 digs in two years. Rollman is one of two Cyclones to surpass the 100-kill mark in conference play.

Senior middle blocker, Stacy Nicks is the other Cyclone to accomplish that goal with her team leading 108 kills in the Big 12 conference.

Rollman follows closely behind with 102 kills and is also close to the century mark in digs as she owns 91 in 15 conference matches.
