Looking to show your boyfriend or girlfriend a little culture? You’re in luck.

A classic Shakespearian play provides the storyline for one of the most popular ballets of all time, as The Ballet de l’Opera de Bordeaux presents “Romeo and Juliet,” Tuesday at Stephens Auditorium.

The Ballet de l’Opera de Bordeaux is one of the oldest ballet companies in the world, originally the ballet wing of the Academie Royale de Musique de Bordeaux in 1752.

The company gained prominence dancing the opera ballets of Jean-Phillippe Rameau and Jean-Georges Noverre, and for a brief time it was under the patronage of Emperor Louis Napoleon.

“Romeo & Juliet,” a full-length ballet in three acts with music by Sergei Prokofiev and choreography by Charles Jude, performs Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Stephens Auditorium.

Tickets cost $10, $13 and $16 for students and $20, $26, $32 general admission.
