In celebration of POW/MIA day, the Iowa State division of the Air Force ROTC is sponsoring a ceremony in honor of all POWs (prisoners of war) and MIAs (missing in action).

All ISU ROTC programs will run from the veterans memorial wall on the capitol grounds in Des Moines to the Memorial Union in Ames.

The cadets will be displaying the black POW/MIA flag during the run, and they will also display the American flag while in Ames and Des Moines.

“This is to honor the eight ISU graduates who are still missing in action,” ROTC cadet Jason Dyal said.

Dyal, a senior in industrial technology, also said there will be a fly-over on central campus by a pair of Iowa National Guard F-16’s at 11 a.m., weather permitting.

Following the earlier activities, there will be a ceremony by the campanile on central campus at 4:30 p.m. This ceremony will feature a flag lowering by an ROTC color guard. After the retreat of the flag, there will be a speaker.
