Grab a fork, a spoon or maybe even a pair of chop sticks, they may come in very handy. Then prepare yourself for the Global Food Festival.

“The international festival of food has been going on here at Iowa State for five years now,” said Victor Susanto, director of publicity for the event.

The Global Food Festival, which kicks off International Week at ISU, will take place at the Memorial Union’s Great Hall on Sunday, Nov. 10th, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

“The Global Food Festival gives international students at Iowa State a better way to tell other Iowa State students about their own culture. Food is a unique thing in every culture and the main goal for this festival is to give a better understanding of a variety of cultures that are with us locally,” Susanto said.

A few of the countries represented at the event are Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey and India, Susanto said.

The food at the festival will range from appetizers to main courses to desserts.

Other upcoming International Week events include: Dr. Modupe Labode speech at the Pioneer Room of the Union at 7 p.m. Monday on “The Effect of Colonization.” Dr. Wayne Osborn will hold a forum at noon on Tuesday in the Pioneer Room on “UNICEF on the Eyes of Children.”

Also on Tuesday, the Student Union Board is holding a creative writers and poets night at 7 p.m.
