An Iowa State sorority house was vandalized over the weekend by members of a visiting fraternity, Ames police said.

The Alpha Delta Pi Sorority house, at 2125 Greeley St., was vandalized early Sunday morning by members of the University of Missouri-Columbia chapter of FarmHouse Fraternity.

According to reports, police took a 911 call at about 4 a.m. from someone in the Alpha Delta Pi house.

When officers arrived at the scene they were told that a group of white males who said they were fraternity members from out of town came to the door. The men were not allowed inside. After being turned away, members of the group broke one of the sorority’s marble yard ornaments, the report said.

The ornament’s value isn’t known. Officers questioned four of the Missouri men later Sunday morning.

All parties involved decided the incident will be handled through the greek system. No charges were filed.

FarmHouse officials said the Missouri chapter has submitted a signed memo stating that it will pay for all damages.

“We offer our sincere apologies on behalf of Missouri FarmHouse and FarmHouse International to Alpha Delta Pi,” said Troy Smothers, president of ISU’s FarmHouse chapter.

Smothers wanted to make it clear that members of the ISU chapter were not involved with the vandalism. About 30 Missouri FarmHouse men visited ISU over the weekend.
