Women’s club wanting to give out more award money

The Iowa State Women’s club will once again present awards varying from $150-$300, to deserving ISU women students, recognizing their accomplishments academically, personally and in community life.

The awards committee is now accepting applications for the Senior Award, the Pat Miller Award, the International Award and the Mrs. Glenn Murphy Award.

Each recipient will be notified of her award and will be invited to an awards luncheon to be held on November 21, 1996, where she will be presented with her honorarium. They will also be invited to the Iowa State Women’s Club holiday gathering at the Knoll on December 4.

Even though they can only win one award, applicants can apply for as many of the awards as they like. There is no limit to the number of recipients of the four awards. Last year the Women’s Club awarded nine women with awards. This year they hope to award more.

“We don’t get nearly as many applications as we would like to. Last year we received about 30 applications, we would like to see many more women apply,” said Kitty Lamont, chairperson for the awards committee.

The deadline for applications is October 25, 1996. Applications are available in the offices of ISU academic advising and student services offices. Forms are also available from Kitty Lamont, who can be reached at 292-5541.
