Before anyone is to go out and choose a political party to support, they should at least understand what that party supports and where it stands on key and current issues. In order to form an unbiased opinion, all groups should be given a thorough look.

This week the Daily will feature the various political parties which appear on the ballot and their ideologies. The information for each party ideology was gathered from web pages on the Internet. The following information was taken from the Democratic National Party homepage and is the view of the Democratic Party.

The Democratic Party’s vision is a simple one: to give all Americans the chance to live out their dreams, to fulfill their God-given potential and for America to come together around its enduring values instead of drifting apart.

The party wants to renew what it calls America’s most basic bargain: Opportunity to every American, responsibility from every American, and to awaken the great sense of American community.

The party’s platform is based on three different basic values, opportunity, responsibility and community. It calls these American values the values which will lead America into the future.

In the areas of opportunity the party wants to address future economic growth, education and economic security for American families in the next century.

The Democrats want the American people to take responsibility for using the tools that government gives them.

They plan to enact new ways of fighting crime, handling immigration problems, dealing with welfare reform, reinventing the government, dealing with the abortion issue and political reform.

One of the party’s biggest concerns is the responsibility of government to its constituents, and guaranteeing security, peace and freedom to the people.

America is full of different communities, it is one of the bonds that ties Americans together. Democrats believe Americans must reawaken the strong sense of community that has kept America the country it has been for over 200 years.

By putting families first, empowering communities, addressing agriculture and rural communities, and protecting the environment, democrats believe the great American community will continue to improve and prosper.
