Student Government Finance Director Martin Hursh, whose campaign messaging included a free concert for students at Jack Trice Stadium, defeated incumbent President Jennifer Holliday for the role of Student Government president according to preliminary results announced on the Election Commission’s Instagram Friday.

Hursh, a sophomore in economics, and his running mate, incumbent Vice President Quinn Margrett, a sophomore in business economics, will be sworn in on April 9.

“Please note that these are preliminary results so they may change over time,” Election Commissioner Shane Clayton said in the Instagram post.

The post consisted of Clayton, a junior in psychology, reading the preliminary results for the presidential election as well as the senate and did not include vote totals or the number of students who participated in the election.

“The commission is also reaching out to write-in candidates, so they will be finalized with the rest of the results after spring break,” Clayton said.

Clayton announced all senators on the ballot were elected, and the remaining seats without a balloted candidate would be filled by write-ins, if candidates written in accept the position.
