Iowa State (2-0, 0-0 Big 12) completed back-to-back 3-0 sweeps of Ohio and Bucknell over the weekend at the Bobcat Invitational in Athens.
Goolsby, Duckworth power Iowa State past Bucknell
The invitational was underway Friday afternoon with Iowa State winning 25-21, 25-9 and 25-20 over Bucknell. The first win of the invitational marked the 600th career win of Iowa State head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch.
Freshman outside hitter Alea Goolsby recorded six kills in the first set. Iowa State took an early 12-0 lead behind the serving of senior outside hitter Maya Duckworth.
Junior right side hitter Lilly Wachholz led the second set, hitting .429 with four kills. Wachholz led the team with three aces. A pair of kills by junior middle blocker Pam McCune led to an ace by Wacholz, ending the match and awarding Iowa State with the sweep.

Game two of the invite saw the Cyclones win 25-18, 25-23 and 25-13 over Ohio. McCune was errorless, 11 kills of 15 attempts, recording the highest efficiency by a Cyclone hitter since 2018.
Sophomore libero Rachel Van Gorp had 16 digs through the three sets against the Bobcats. Senior setter Morgan Brandt recorded two aces of her own with two kills and a block.
Iowa State took an early 6-5 lead in the first. The Cyclones rallied from behind 4-1, going ahead 13-8. An ace by Brandt ended the first set.
Sets two and three were dominated by Goolsby and McCune. McCune hit her ninth kill without an error and entered double figures on 13 attempts as Iowa State took an 8-3 lead. Iowa State took a 20-11 lead before winning the set.
The Cyclones travel to Milwaukee to meet Central Michigan, Milwaukee and South Alabama at the Panther Invite on Sep. 5-6.
