The ISU women’s basketball team continued its losing trend Wednesday.

In front of the Hilton Coliseum crowd, Iowa State (13-14, 5-11 Big 12) fell to Kansas State (18-9, 8-8 Big 12), for its fifth loss in its last six games. The Cyclones were out-rebounded, 68-53.

Iowa State jumped to and early lead thanks to an 11-0 run in the first quarter. But Kansas State responded at the end of the quarter, going on a 7-0 run to close out the period and tie the game at 17.

The Wildcats couldn’t be tamed in the second quarter, jumping to a 36-21 lead with a 13-0 run. The Cyclones shot 2-for-14 in the quarter and allowed K-State’s Breanna Lewis to score 10 points in the 10 minutes.

Kansas State kept up the strong play near the end of the half and went into the locker room with a 38-23 lead.

The Wildcats continued the run into the third quarter, outscoring the Cyclones, 18-10, to go up 56-33 going into the fourth quarter.

Kansas State wouldn’t let go of the 20-point lead, even though Iowa State put up 22 points in the fourth quarter.
