The ISU women’s basketball team needed a comeback game after falling to No. 4 Texas on Wednesday.

Iowa State (11-4, 3-1 Big 12) got just that against Kansas (5-10, 0-4 Big 12) on Saturday at Hilton Coliseum, winning in strong fashion, 65-49.

Iowa State started the game going 0-for-5 from the field, but a Jadda Buckley 3-pointer provided the Cyclones with their first points of the game. The Cyclones and Jayhawks traded baskets before Iowa State went on an 11-0 run to put it up, 19-11.

Kansas battled back, though, and fought to get within three points. Kidd Blaskowsky hit a couple of 3’s to keep the Cyclones ahead and the lead, going into the half, 28-25.

The Cyclones shot 39 percent from the field on 12-of-31 shooting in the first half.

Both teams couldn’t pull away early in the third quarter, but thanks to a 15-5 run in the middle of the quarter, the Cyclones took a 43-32 lead. Iowa State took a 44-34 lead into the fourth quarter.

Kansas started to take a crack at Iowa State’s lead, coming within five, but Iowa State held on. The Cyclones went on a late 8-2 run to give them a strong hold on the game.
