Steve Prohm and the ISU men’s basketball team added another member to their 2016 recruiting class on Friday, picking up one of the nation’s top junior college players.

Emmanuel Malou, a 6-foot-9, 210-pound power forward, announced on Twitter Friday his commitment to Iowa Sate.

The Australia native played previously for Yuba Community College in Marysville, Calif., and for ABCD Basketball Academy, a former prep school in Des Moines. Last season, Malou averaged 14.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game at Yuba, and he shot 47.3 percent from 3-point range.

Malou chose Iowa State over a number of other offers from schools like Arizona, Kansas, Marquette, Oklahoma State, Oregon and others.

Malou is the third commitment in the 2016 recruiting class. Forward Solomon Young and guard Donovan Jackson both made their verbal commitments at the end of August.

Jackson, a transfer from Iowa Western, averaged 13.6 points per game last year, shooting 46 percent from the field. Young, a Sacramento, Calif., native, was listed as a three-star prospect by Rivals and Scout, chose Iowa State over USC, California, Colorado, Texas, Washington and others.
