ISU tennis will have four new faces to begin the 2015-16 season.

Anna Kuuttila, Annabella Bonadonna, Elizaveta Buss and Maria Regina Espindola will join the ISU tennis lineup that returns four players from last season.

“We are excited to add a talented group of players to our roster,” ISU coach Armando Espinosa said in a statement. “These players, along with the players that are returning, will provide us with more depth than we’ve had in recent years. That depth will help us not only in competitions, but in practice as well.”

Bonadonna won several Venezuelan national championships in both singles and doubles before coming to Iowa State. The incoming freshman became the No. 1 player in her age group in 2008, 2011 and 2013 and represented Venezuela in two South America Games.

A former No. 1 player in Mexico, Espindola won the national championship in the under-16 and under-14 tournaments. She also competed with Mexico in the 2010 Yucatan World Cup.

Playing for New Mexico in her freshman and sophomore seasons, Kuuttila posted a 19-22 record. Battling injuries during both seasons, Kuutilla sat out her last two seasons. She enters Iowa State with one year of eligibility remaining.

Buss comes to Iowa State as at top-10, under-18 player in Russia. She ranks 270th on the top world International Tennis Federation ranking.

The four new additions will join Claudia Toledo as the newcomers on the team.
