Look chic, don’t lose sleep

Looking chic every day can be a challenging task, a task that can become nearly impossible at 8 a.m.

Adding a few little details to an outfit can set you apart from the crowd and go against the college normality of sweatpants, sweatshirts and messy hair.

Trade in the sweatpants and opt for a pair of cuffed skinny jeans worn with a pair of flats or booties. Cuffing skinny jeans is an easy way to add detail to an outfit that doesn’t require a lot of effort. It also creates the appearance of a long, slender line. Wearing a printed flat can also be a way to add subtle detail to an outfit. Cuffed or not, jeans will always trump sweatpants.

Layering has been a prominent styling technique for quite a few years now. Although the evolution of layering has changed drastically during the past few years, you can’t go wrong with layering a collared button up shirt. A chambray top is a great staple item to have in your closet, as it can be very versatile. Chambray is a material that looks like denim, but has the comfort of cotton or linen. It can be worn by itself, layered under a favorite oversized sweater or even under a crew neck sweatshirt. It also works well as a transition piece from season to season. Layering can make an outfit look like it’s put together, without much effort from the wearer.

Opt for a slicked back low pony, either parted to the side or down the middle, as an easy alternative to a messy bun. Also, adding a lip color or gloss to your makeup routine can spice up your appearance. These are both effortless ways to look polished without cutting into precious sleeping hours.
