Two events, two big 12 honors for ISU swimming and diving

The ISU swimming and diving team took the water for day one of the women’s big 12 championship, and took it convincingly.

The Cyclones competed in two events on day one, the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay. Iowa State finished second behind Texas in both events putting them in a solid position heading into day two.

Texas was dominant in both relay events to start the big 12 championship, but good performances out of Iowa State’s relay teams has Iowa State in the second place position they want.

After day one, Texas leads at 80, Iowa State 68, West Virginia 62, Texas Christian 58 and Kansas 32.

The Cyclones dip back into the water tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. when the preliminary heats for the 500-yard freestyle, the 200 individual medley, the 50-yard freestyle and the 400-yard medley begin.

1-meter diving has a scheduled start of 1 p.m. and the final heats for the day with be held at 6 p.m.
