The official start of the 2014-15 season is still two days away, but that has not stopped ISU coach Fred Hoiberg from thinking about the future.

On Nov. 12, Hoiberg made public the news that Darien Williams had signed a national letter of intent to bring his talents to Ames, Iowa.

Williams is a 6’8″ sophomore and was widely regarded as one of the better junior college freshman in the country last season.

He averaged just over 16 points per game on 51 percent shooting as well as just under seven rebounds per contest at Western Community College.

Williams then transferred to City College of San Francisco before deciding to come to Iowa State for the 2015-16 season.

Williams will sit out this season due to a shoulder surgery he underwent last summer and will transfer to Iowa State with three years of eligibility remaining.
