Fabulous fall scents

Many love burning candles year-round, but they are especially popular in the fall. Candles can make any space feel warm and welcoming and can be considered a great addition to decor within a home.

Now that it’s October, fall is officially here. It’s time to swap out the summer wardrobes, home decor and fruity scents and trade them in for ones that are warm and cozy. Stores are beginning to get rid of their summer smells in order to make room for toasty, fall ones.

For fall, Yankee Candle has a new collection of harvest fragrances. The collection includes Apple Spice, Bay Leaf Wreath, Berrylicious, Chocolate Layer Cake, Cranberry Pear, Pumpkin Ginger Bark and Silver Birch.

This collection was inspired by the different scents, sounds and foods that are experienced during the fall months. Yankee Candle used an assortment of earth tones to capture the perfect autumn feeling.

Yankee Candle’s line presents candles that are targeted specifically for the fall. For scents that are more versatile from season to season, Talia Jensen, owner of Portobello Road, recommended Voluspa.

“I love Voluspa candles, and so do the customers,” Jensen said. “They are a very popular item.”

Portobello Road offers an assortment of Voluspa candles. Not only does Voluspa sell candles, the company also sells diffusers, along with room and body sprays.

“My favorite is Branche Vermeil, but for fall I think Champagne Rose and Baltic Amber are great,” Jensen said. “Anything with amber always reminds me of fall.”

Mindi Price, senior in graphic design and journalism and mass communications, recently went into Portobello Road to buy a Voluspa candle.

“I went there to buy a new fall candle and I fell in love with Santiago Huckleberry,” Price said.

Santiago Huckleberry is part of Voluspa’s fall limited edition Japonica collection. These scents are inspired by traditional Japanese floral motifs.
