The ISU women’s gymnastics team will come home Friday after starting off its season with three consecutive road meets.

Iowa State will be at Hilton Coliseum 6:30 p.m. Friday for a tri-meet against Lindenwood University and North Carolina State.

The Cyclones didn’t have the start they wanted, going 1-2 over the past three games, and only placing first in just one.

“We did a few different things at practice, we changed the order of the stuff that we do,” said coach Jay Ronayne. “Normally we do three events all at the same time and so we changed things up and did one event, bars in particular, all at the end. Another thing is, I started off practice saying we are starting from zero.

“Everybody is auditioning for a lineup spot starting right now. Nobody’s in and nobody’s out.”

Taking the road trip as a learning experience, the Cyclones are going to treat the upcoming meet as they do in every past meet.

“They are both really good schools, we are going to compete as we would if they were No. 1 teams or No. 50 teams.” said sophomore Haylee Young.

Iowa State has faced its challenges this season, coming close in every meet it’s lost, but it is eager to show to its home crowd the potential it has for this upcoming season. The Cyclones had a 5-2 record at home in previous seasons.

“I want them to approach every turn that they do in the gym as it matters, not, ‘I’ll get it on the next try’ because every turn counts,” Ronayne said. “We need the consistency that we often times see in the gym. We need everybody to hit it on every event.”
